Installation and Verification Procedures for SPG Membrane Emulsification Equipment
Pubdate:2026-10-26 Click:9
SPG membrane emulsification equipment is patented technology invented by Japan SPG Co., Ltd. and protected under patent law. Beijing Goodwill‑Tech Co., Ltd. / Goodwill‑Tech (Hong Kong) Co., Limited acts as the exclusive general agent for SPG products across China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), fully responsible for product sales, on‑site installation, qualification verification and technical application consultation in this territory. Beijing Goodwill‑Tech has maintained nearly 20‑year‑long cooperation with Japan SPG Co., Ltd., accumulating rich application experience and comprehensive after‑sales support. A full range of commonly‑used SPG membrane tubes are stocked in our Beijing warehouse, which can be delivered to customer sites via SF Express with next‑day arrival. This enables fast response to changing experimental requirements and guarantees continuity of laboratory work. Japan SPG Co., Ltd. can also develop custom‑built R&D‑grade equipment for Chinese customers to satisfy diverse application requirements.

Standard SPG membrane emulsification equipment models include MN‑20, MG‑20 and KH‑125. Pilot‑scale and larger‑capacity models are KH‑250 and KH‑500. For production‑grade equipment, customers only need to specify requirements described in Technical Scheme Design for SPG Production‑Scale Membrane Emulsification Equipment, and Japan SPG Co., Ltd. will deliver technically feasible equipment design proposals.
As research‑grade laboratory instruments, SPG membrane emulsification systems require proper installation, commissioning and verification by Beijing Goodwill‑Tech upon equipment arrival at customer laboratories, to ensure accurate and reproducible experimental results. On‑site training covering SPG membrane cleaning, maintenance and routine care will also be provided.
1. Installation of SPG Membrane Emulsifier
Standard SPG membrane emulsifier units are equipped with pressure regulating valves and digital pressure gauges. Pressure adjustment proceeds at a slow rate to facilitate identification of the critical emulsification pressure. Select properly‑sized sealing gaskets to achieve reliable sealing for SPG tubular membranes and prevent dispersed‑phase leakage. Verify normal operation and adjustable speed settings for stirrers and circulation pumps. For custom‑fabricated equipment, assemble the membrane emulsifier strictly following drawings supplied in the design package.
Pre‑installation checks for consumables and instruments:
- Verify shelf‑life/expiry dates of surfactants including SDS, Tween 80 and Span 80.
- Inspect the microscope to confirm its suitability for observing nano‑ and micro‑scale microspheres, with capability for image storage on computer and particle‑size calculation.
2. Experimental Verification Using Reference Samples
Kerosene or soybean oil paired with water represents the most commonly‑used two‑phase solvent system. Perform oil‑in‑water emulsification tests following operating‑manual protocols for the SPG membrane emulsifier. Use 10 – 60 mL kerosene or soybean oil as oil phase, and 200 – 600 mL purified / distilled water as continuous phase, with appropriate surfactant addition. Collect multiple aliquots during emulsification. Observe droplet size and particle‑size distribution under microscope while tuning experimental parameters. Identify suitable operating parameters matched to the selected SPG membrane pore size. Replicate experiments until highly monodisperse microspheres are obtained. This procedure validates equipment sealing integrity and homogeneous pore performance of SPG membranes, confirming proper equipment function.
3. Verification of Emulsification Methods
SPG membrane technology supports two operational modes: direct emulsification and premix (mixed) emulsification, based on distinct working principles. Direct emulsification delivers markedly superior microsphere monodispersity and is the recommended standard workflow. Premix emulsification offers slightly higher throughput and simpler operation, and is suitable for applications with relaxed requirements on particle‑size uniformity. Our field engineers will execute and validate direct emulsification to generate uniform microspheres on‑site. Premix emulsification workflow will also be demonstrated and trained according to end‑user practical demands.
4. Verification with Customer‑Supplied Samples
SPG membranes are widely deployed for uniform microsphere fabrication across pharmaceutical, medical aesthetic, advanced material, food and chemical industries. Customer samples vary significantly in two‑phase composition, active‑ingredient loading, formulation ratios and target membrane pore sizes, leading to unique optimal experimental parameters for each project. Where published literature reports similar experimental conditions and no proprietary‑formula confidentiality issues exist, Beijing Goodwill‑Tech will collaborate with customers to carry out exploratory tests, establish preliminary operating conditions for uniform microsphere preparation, and define directions for further particle‑size optimization.
5. SPG Membrane Cleaning and Storage
Thorough maintenance of clean membrane pores is critical for reliable long‑term experiments. Dispersed‑phase residuals and active substances inevitably remain inside SPG membranes after use; timely removal of such contaminants extends membrane service life. SPG membranes are fabricated from inorganic ceramic material. Organic‑solvent washing is an effective rapid cleaning approach: immerse SPG membrane in solvent‑filled beaker and perform ultrasonic cleaning for 30 minutes. Repeat sonication with fresh solvent several times, then rinse thoroughly with purified water and air‑dry before storage. For heavily fouled and fully blocked membranes, follow dedicated SPG Membrane Regeneration Protocol.
6. Applications of SPG Tubular Membranes
SPG membranes are manufactured relying on unique regional raw‑material sources and sophisticated sintering technology, delivering extremely narrow pore‑size distribution. Custom pore sizes are available ranging from 0.1 μm to 50 μm. Matching membrane emulsification equipment is purpose‑built for SPG tubular membranes. Mechanical design and sealing structures compensate for manufacturing dimensional tolerances of SPG tubes, while enabling convenient disassembly for repeated experiments and easy cleaning to avoid cross‑sample contamination. For this reason, SPG tubular membranes are intended for use exclusively with original Japan SPG membrane emulsification equipment; SPG equipment tolerates dimensional deviations across different membrane production batches.
